Barnes Garden with Home Workspace
Our clients were having the house completely refurbished and a home office installed in the rear of the garden. They wanted a garden to reflect the new incarnation of the house. The garden already had 14 large magnolia grandiflora - planted a few years earlier to provide privacy. We incorporated the avenue of Magnolia in the new design, and as our clients loved a large lawn this element was retained as well in the new design.
As our clients grandchildren often visit, we installed a pergola on the right of the garden that we hung a personalised oak swing from. For entertaining we included a large terrace using Chatsworth stone edged with a border of charred oak setts. As our clients love wine and have a cellar, we planted 3 large hand thrown pots by Atelier Vierkant with standard vines and an even larger one with a cork oak. The left side was planted with 4 beautiful pleached crab apples. For the planting we used lots of roses, herbaceous perennials and a number of beautiful Dicksonia Antarctica for structure.
