Putney Hill Garden

The wide south facing garden inherited by our clients wasn’t working for them, the existing stone terrace too hot and exposed, and the steps up into the garden too mean. We redesigned the space, broadening out the steps, and breaking up the sunny stone terrace by planting umbrella trained mulberry trees for shade even in the height of summer. We added to this with fragrant herbs planted within the stonework around the dining area to further soften the space.

Halfway down the garden, around a beautiful mature magnolia, we added a hardwood deck on which we put in a hammock that our clients and their children make full use of. We also added in a further relaxed seating area and added an oak swing, creating another area in the garden that is now used by our clients and their children for entertaining.
